Project Melba is a new engine being built from the ground up.
Founded in 2021 by Brendan Greene, PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment. With a team of sixty engineers and artists committed to innovation and creativity, the studio aims to develop emergent digital worlds that redefine the gaming experience.
Early on we realized that current technology was not suited to the specific needs of Project Artemis, and so we decided to pursue a custom solution.
Project Melba is built for scalability at its core, using technologies like data-driven design, multi-core processing and machine learning to power a planetary scale simulation. As our applied research division, Project Melba is a process, not a product. It allows us to ask complex questions from new angles in an effort build bigger, deeper worlds.

Preface: Undiscovered World showcases “Melba”, our proprietary engine. It allows you to explore a vast, uncharted world, and be among the first to witness this new technology, as it takes shape.
Embark on an exploration of the 510,000,000 km² world, where your journey will not only uncover new ML generated horizons, but also play a key role in advancing the development of “Melba” and 'Project Artemis.' Your involvement is crucial in helping us push the boundaries of innovation

Prologue: Go Wayback! a single-player open-world emergent game and our first step on our 3-game plan.
Prologue: Go Wayback! is a single-player open-world emergent game with survival mechanics. With realistic mechanics and ML driven terrain generation resulting in millions of possible maps, it challenges the players to explore their limits. Enjoy a peaceful walk in the forest, until the hailstorm come.
Our ML driven terrain generation provides players with a different experience each time they hit the “play” button. Enjoy a wide variety of landscapes and beautiful vistas as you explore the map.
